| 2. * | Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. | Nothing can stop it from happening. | ليس لوقعتها كاذبة | lys lwq`tha kaXb+ | |||
| 3. * | (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; | It will lower some, and raise others. | خافضة رافعة | KafD+ raf`+ | |||
| 4. * | When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, | The earth will be shaken up. | اذا رجت الارض رجا | aXa rjt alarD rja | |||
| 5. * | And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, | The mountains will be wiped out. | وبست الجبال بسا | wbst aljbal bsa | |||
| 6. * | Becoming dust scattered abroad, | As if they never existed. | فكانت هباء منبثا | fkant hba' mnbxa | |||
| 7. * | And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. | You will be stratified into three kinds. | وكنتم ازواجا ثلاثة | wkntm azwaja xlax+ | |||
| 8. * | Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? | Those who deserved bliss will be in bliss. | فاصحاب الميمنة مااصحاب الميمنة | faSHab almymn+ maaSHab almymn+ | |||
| 9. * | And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? | Those who deserved misery will be in misery. | واصحاب المشأمة مااصحاب المشأمة | waSHab alm$Am+ maaSHab alm$Am+ | |||
| 10. * | And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). | Then there is the elite of the elite. | والسابقون السابقون | walsabqwn alsabqwn | |||
| 11. * | These will be those Nearest to Allah. | They are those who will be closest (to God). | اولئك المقربون | awlYk almqrbwn | |||
| 12. * | In Gardens of Bliss: | In the gardens of bliss. | في جنات النعيم | fy jnat aln`ym | |||
| 13. * | A number of people from those of old, | Many from the first generations. | ثلة من الاولين | xl+ mn alawlyn | |||
| 14. * | And a few from those of later times. | Few from the later generations. | وقليل من الاخرين | wqlyl mn alaKryn | |||
| 15. * | (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), | On luxurious furnishings. | على سرر موضونة | `li srr mwDwn+ | |||
| 16. * | Reclining on them, facing each other. | Enjoying everything, they will be neighbors. | متكئين عليها متقابلين | mtkYyn `lyha mtqablyn | |||
| 17. * | Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), | Serving them will be immortal servants. | يطوف عليهم ولدان مخلدون | yTwf `lyhm wldan mKldwn | |||
| 18. * | With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: | With cups, pitchers and pure drinks. | باكواب واباريق وكاس من معين | bakwab wabaryq wkas mn m`yn | |||
| 19. * | No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: | They never run out, nor do they get bored. | لايصدعون عنها ولاينزفون | laySd`wn `nha wlaynzfwn | |||
| 20. * | And with fruits, any that they may select: | Fruits of their choice. | وفاكهة مما يتخيرون | wfakh+ mma ytKyrwn | |||
| 21. * | And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. | Meat of birds that they desire. | ولحم طير مما يشتهون | wlHm Tyr mma y$thwn | |||
| 22. * | And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- | Beautiful mates. | وحور عين | wHwr `yn | |||
| 23. * | Like unto Pearls well-guarded. | Like protected pearls. | كامثال اللؤلؤ المكنون | kamxal allWlW almknwn | |||
| 24. * | A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). | Rewards for their works. | جزاء بما كانوا يعملون | jza' bma kanwa y`mlwn | |||
| 25. * | Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- | They never hear any nonsense therein, nor sinful utterances. | لايسمعون فيها لغوا ولاتاثيما | laysm`wn fyha lGwa wlataxyma | |||
| 26. * | Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". | Only the utterance: "Peace, peace." | الا قيلا سلاما سلاما | ala qyla slama slama | |||
| 27. * | The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? | Those of the right side, will be on the right side. | واصحاب اليمين مااصحاب اليمين | waSHab alymyn maaSHab alymyn | |||
| 28. * | (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, | In lush orchards. | في سدر مخضود | fy sdr mKDwd | |||
| 29. * | Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- | Fragrant fruits. | وطلح منضود | wTlH mnDwd | |||
| 30. * | In shade long-extended, | Extended shade. | وظل ممدود | wZl mmdwd | |||
| 31. * | By water flowing constantly, | Abundant water. | وماء مسكوب | wma' mskwb | |||
| 32. * | And fruit in abundance. | Many fruits. | وفاكهة كثيرة | wfakh+ kxyr+ | |||
| 33. * | Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, | Never ending; never forbidden. | لامقطوعة ولاممنوعة | lamqTw`+ wlammnw`+ | |||
| 34. * | And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. | Luxurious furnishings. | وفرش مرفوعة | wfr$ mrfw`+ | |||
| 35. * | We have created (their Companions) of special creation. | We create for them mates. | انا انشاناهن انشاء | ana an$anahn an$a' | |||
| 36. * | And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - | Never previously touched. | فجعلناهن ابكارا | fj`lnahn abkara | |||
| 37. * | Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- | Perfectly matched. | عربا اترابا | `rba atraba | |||
| 38. * | For the Companions of the Right Hand. | For those on the right side. | لاصحاب اليمين | laSHab alymyn | |||
| 39. * | A (goodly) number from those of old, | Many from the early generations. | ثلة من الاولين | xl+ mn alawlyn | |||
| 40. * | And a (goodly) number from those of later times. | Many from the later generations. | وثلة من الاخرين | wxl+ mn alaKryn | |||
| 41. * | The Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? | Those of the left, will be on the left. | واصحاب الشمال مااصحاب الشمال | waSHab al$mal maaSHab al$mal | |||
| 42. * | (They will be) in the midst of a Fierce Blast of Fire and in Boiling Water, | In misery and inferno. | في سموم وحميم | fy smwm wHmym | |||
| 43. * | And in the shades of Black Smoke: | Even their shade is hot. | وظل من يحموم | wZl mn yHmwm | |||
| 44. * | Nothing (will there be) to refresh, nor to please: | Never cool, never tolerable. | لابارد ولاكريم | labard wlakrym | |||
| 45. * | For that they were wont to be indulged, before that, in wealth (and luxury), | They used to be rich. | انهم كانوا قبل ذلك مترفين | anhm kanwa qbl Xlk mtrfyn | |||
| 46. * | And persisted obstinately in wickedness supreme! | They insisted on the great blasphemy. | وكانوا يصرون على الحنث العظيم | wkanwa ySrwn `li alHnx al`Zym | |||
| 47. * | And they used to say, "What! when we die and become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be raised up again?- | They said, "After we die and turn to dust and bones, we get resurrected? | وكانوا يقولون ائذا متنا وكنا ترابا وعظاما ائنا لمبعوثون | wkanwa yqwlwn aYXa mtna wkna traba w`Zama aYna lmb`wxwn | |||
| 48. * | "(We) and our fathers of old?" | "Does this include our forefathers?" | او اباؤنا الاولون | aw abaWna alawlwn | |||
| 49. * | Say: "Yea, those of old and those of later times, | Say, "The early generations and the later generations. | قل ان الاولين والاخرين | ql an alawlyn walaKryn | |||
| 50. * | "All will certainly be gathered together for the meeting appointed for a Day well-known. | "Will be summoned to a meeting on a predetermined day. | لمجموعون الى ميقات يوم معلوم | lmjmw`wn ali myqat ywm m`lwm | |||
| 51. * | "Then will ye truly,- O ye that go wrong, and treat (Truth) as Falsehood!- | "Then you, O disbelieving strayers. | ثم انكم ايها الضالون المكذبون | xm ankm ayha alDalwn almkXbwn | |||
| 52. * | "Ye will surely taste of the Tree of Zaqqum. | "Will eat from the trees of bitterness. | لاكلون من شجر من زقوم | laklwn mn $jr mn zqwm | |||
| 53. * | "Then will ye fill your insides therewith, | "Filling your bellies therefrom. | فمالئون منها البطون | fmalYwn mnha albTwn | |||
| 54. * | "And drink Boiling Water on top of it: | "Then drinking on top of it hellish drinks. | فشاربون عليه من الحميم | f$arbwn `lyh mn alHmym | |||
| 55. * | "Indeed ye shall drink like diseased camels raging with thirst!" | "Then adding drinks of sand." | فشاربون شرب الهيم | f$arbwn $rb alhym | |||
| 56. * | Such will be their entertainment on the Day of Requital! | Such is their share on the Day of Judgment. | هذا نزلهم يوم الدين | hXa nzlhm ywm aldyn | |||
| 57. * | It is We Who have created you: why will ye not witness the Truth? | We have created you, if you could only believe! | نحن خلقناكم فلولا تصدقون | nHn Klqnakm flwla tSdqwn | |||
| 58. * | Do ye then see?- The (human Seed) that ye throw out,- | Have you noted the semen that you produce? | افرايتم ماتمنون | afraytm matmnwn | |||
| 59. * | Is it ye who create it, or are We the Creators? | Did you create it, or did we? | ءانتم تخلقونه ام نحن الخالقون | 'antm tKlqwnh am nHn alKalqwn | |||
| 60. * | We have decreed Death to be your common lot, and We are not to be frustrated | We have predetermined death for you. Nothing can stop us - | نحن قدرنا بينكم الموت ومانحن بمسبوقين | nHn qdrna bynkm almwt wmanHn bmsbwqyn | |||
| 61. * | from changing your Forms and creating you (again) in (forms) that ye know not. | from substituting new generations in your place, and establishing what you do not know. | على ان نبدل امثالكم وننشئكم في مالاتعلمون | `li an nbdl amxalkm wnn$Ykm fy malat`lmwn | |||
| 62. * | And ye certainly know already the first form of creation: why then do ye not celebrate His praises? | You know about the first creation. Do you not remember? | ولقد علمتم النشاة الاولى فلولا تذكرون | wlqd `lmtm aln$a+ alawli flwla tXkrwn | |||
| 63. * | See ye the seed that ye sow in the ground? | Have you noted the crops you reap? | افرايتم ماتحرثون | afraytm matHrxwn | |||
| 64. * | Is it ye that cause it to grow, or are We the Cause? | Did you grow them, or did we? | ءانتم تزرعونه ام نحن الزارعون | 'antm tzr`wnh am nHn alzar`wn | |||
| 65. * | Were it Our Will, We could crumble it to dry powder, and ye would be left in wonderment, | If we will, we can turn it into hay. Then you will lament: | لو نشاء لجعلناه حطاما فظلتم تفكهون | lw n$a' lj`lnah HTama fZltm tfkhwn | |||
| 66. * | (Saying), "We are indeed left with debts (for nothing): | "We lost. | انا لمغرمون | ana lmGrmwn | |||
| 67. * | "Indeed are we shut out (of the fruits of our labour)" | "We are deprived." | بل نحن محرومون | bl nHn mHrwmwn | |||
| 68. * | See ye the water which ye drink? | Have you noted the water you drink? | افرايتم الماء الذي تشربون | afraytm alma' alXy t$rbwn | |||
| 69. * | Do ye bring it down (in rain) from the cloud or do We? | Did you send it down from the clouds, or did we? | ءانتم انزلتموه من المزن ام نحن المنزلون | 'antm anzltmwh mn almzn am nHn almnzlwn | |||
| 70. * | Were it Our Will, We could make it salt (and unpalatable): then why do ye not give thanks? | If we will, we can make it salty. You should be thankful. | لو نشاء جعلناه اجاجا فلولا تشكرون | lw n$a' j`lnah ajaja flwla t$krwn | |||
| 71. * | See ye the Fire which ye kindle? | Have you noted the fire you ignite? | افرايتم النار التي تورون | afraytm alnar alty twrwn | |||
| 72. * | Is it ye who grow the tree which feeds the fire, or do We grow it? | Did you initiate its tree, or did we? | ءانتم انشاتم شجرتها ام نحن المنشئون | 'antm an$atm $jrtha am nHn almn$Ywn | |||
| 73. * | We have made it a memorial (of Our handiwork), and an article of comfort and convenience for the denizens of deserts. | We rendered it a reminder, and a useful tool for the users. | نحن جعلناها تذكرة ومتاعا للمقوين | nHn j`lnaha tXkr+ wmta`a llmqwyn | |||
| 74. * | Then celebrate with praises the name of thy Lord, the Supreme! | You shall glorify the name of your Lord, the Great. | فسبح باسم ربك العظيم | fsbH basm rbk al`Zym | |||
| 75. * | Furthermore I call to witness the setting of the Stars,- | I swear by the positions of the stars. | فلا اقسم بمواقع النجوم | fla aqsm bmwaq` alnjwm | |||
| 76. * | And that is indeed a mighty adjuration if ye but knew,- | This is an oath, if you only knew, that is awesome. | وانه لقسم لو تعلمون عظيم | wanh lqsm lw t`lmwn `Zym | |||
| 77. * | That this is indeed a qur'an Most Honourable, | This is an honorable Quran. | انه لقران كريم | anh lqran krym | |||
| 78. * | In Book well-guarded, | In a protected book. | في كتاب مكنون | fy ktab mknwn | |||
| 79. * | Which none shall touch but those who are clean: | None can grasp it except the sincere. | لايمسه الا المطهرون | laymsh ala almThrwn | |||
| 80. * | A Revelation from the Lord of the Worlds. | A revelation from the Lord of the universe. | تنزيل من رب العالمين | tnzyl mn rb al`almyn | |||
| 81. * | Is it such a Message that ye would hold in light esteem? | Are you disregarding this narration? | افبهذا الحديث انتم مدهنون | afbhXa alHdyx antm mdhnwn | |||
| 82. * | And have ye made it your livelihood that ye should declare it false? | Do you make it your business that you disbelieve? | وتجعلون رزقكم انكم تكذبون | wtj`lwn rzqkm ankm tkXbwn | |||
| 83. * | Then why do ye not (intervene) when (the soul of the dying man) reaches the throat,- | When the time comes and it (your soul) reaches your throat - | فلولا اذا بلغت الحلقوم | flwla aXa blGt alHlqwm | |||
| 84. * | And ye the while (sit) looking on,- | you will then look around. | وانتم حينئذ تنظرون | wantm HynYX tnZrwn | |||
| 85. * | But We are nearer to him than ye, and yet see not,- | We are closer to it than you are, but you do not see. | ونحن اقرب اليه منكم ولكن لاتبصرون | wnHn aqrb alyh mnkm wlkn latbSrwn | |||
| 86. * | Then why do ye not,- If you are exempt from (future) account,- | If it is true that you do not owe any accounting - | فلولا ان كنتم غير مدينين | flwla an kntm Gyr mdynyn | |||
| 87. * | Call back the soul, if ye are true (in the claim of independence)? | why do you not restore (your soul), if you are truthful? | ترجعونها ان كنتم صادقين | trj`wnha an kntm Sadqyn | |||
| 88. * | Thus, then, if he be of those Nearest to Allah, | If he is one of those close to Me - | فاما ان كان من المقربين | fama an kan mn almqrbyn | |||
| 89. * | (There is for him) Rest and Satisfaction, and a Garden of Delights. | then joy, flowers, and gardens of bliss. | فروح وريحان وجنة نعيم | frwH wryHan wjn+ n`ym | |||
| 90. * | And if he be of the Companions of the Right Hand, | And if he is one of the right - | واما ان كان من اصحاب اليمين | wama an kan mn aSHab alymyn | |||
| 91. * | (For him is the salutation), "Peace be unto thee", from the Companions of the Right Hand. | peace is the lot of those on the right. | فسلام لك من اصحاب اليمين | fslam lk mn aSHab alymyn | |||
| 92. * | And if he be of those who treat (Truth) as Falsehood, who go wrong, | But if he is one of the disbelievers, the strayers - | واما ان كان من المكذبين الضالين | wama an kan mn almkXbyn alDalyn | |||
| 93. * | For him is Entertainment with Boiling Water. | then an abode of inferno - | فنزل من حميم | fnzl mn Hmym | |||
| 94. * | And burning in Hell-Fire. | and burning in Hell. | وتصلية جحيم | wtSly+ jHym | |||
| 95. * | Verily, this is the Very Truth and Certainly. | This is the absolute truth. | ان هذا لهو حق اليقين | an hXa lhw Hq alyqyn | |||
| 96. * | So celebrate with praises the name of thy Lord, the Supreme. | You shall glorify the name of your Lord, the Great. | فسبح باسم ربك العظيم | fsbH basm rbk al`Zym | |||
